Hello
I hope you have had a good week and those of you here in the UK are not too disappointed with the weather. What a contrast to southern Europe and some other parts of the world! After the hot June are gardens are certainly appreciating the wetter weather even if we are not.
I have been bogged down with admin work over the last couple of weeks (sorry about lack of newsletter last week). Serves me right for not staying on top of it, I much prefer to be in the kitchen cooking.
But I have been working on some new recipes using the berries from my little allotment and I hope to shoot the first of them and have them on the blog for next week. It has been another good crop of blackcurrants and redcurrants, after a slightly disappointing gooseberry harvest.
So in the meantime I thought I would share with you some of my favourite blackcurrant recipes.
Blackcurrant and Vanilla Cream Tart is my second most popular recipe on Only Crumbs Remain (after fudge with is an all year favourite) and not far behind is my easy, No-bake blackcurrant cheesecake.
While over On Recipes Made Easy my Quick and easy blackcurrant jelly holds the number 2 spot with Blackcurrant cordial and blackcurrant jam also in the top 10.
So if you can get your hands on some blackcurrants now is a good time to try them.
Until next time
Have a delicious week.
PS. Next week I also hope to post my first exclusive recipe for paying subscribers. The (usually weekly) Recipe Crumbs newsletter is, and will always be free but for anyone wishing to upgrade to a paid subscription I will be producing a 2nd also usually weekly newsletter More Crumbs with exclusive recipes, recipe requests and more. So if you can’t get enough of my recipes then you may want to upgrade to paid.
Juicy blackcurrants, baked in a creamy vanilla tart. This Blackcurrant and vanilla cream tart is bursting with summer fruit flavour.
This no-bake blackcurrant cheesecake can be made with fresh or frozen blackcurrants. The rich creamy cheesecake filling is the perfect foil for the tangy blackcurrant topping.
This quick and easy blackcurrant jelly explodes with delicious fruity flavour.
Made with just 2 ingredients it is an easy jelly and has no added pectin. It is a great alternative to jam especially for those who prefer a seedless jam. Try it spread on bread, toast or scones.
If you think all blackcurrant cordials are the same then you are in for a treat. Homemade blackcurrant cordial is less sweet, fresh tasting, much fruitier and absolutely delicious. It is also really easy to make.
Thank you for reading Recipe Crumbs. This post is public so feel free to share it.
